Darcy Lane Unveils Bold New Single “Pretty Clever”
— First Taste of Upcoming Debut Album

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — [Release Date 28th of May] — Rising alt-pop artist Darcy Lane returns with her sharpest track yet, “Pretty Clever” — a tongue-in-cheek anthem that dives deep into self-sabotage, emotional awareness, and the messy contradictions of your twenties. It’s the first official single from her debut album, due for release later in the year.

Blending sass, vulnerability, and a high school kind of bite, “Pretty Clever” is as much a mirror as it is a callout — a glittering pop track that finds power in honesty. “It’s about the cycle of making the same mistakes even when you know better,” says Darcy. “There’s that frustrating disconnect between what we know and what we still do. You think you’re clever… but you’re not acting like it.”

What began as a casual melody Darcy sang to herself in the car soon became a defining moment in the album's creation. The track was the produced with collaborators Oscar Sharah (OSWRLD, Winston Surfshirt, Sycco) and Dom Corso — and it quickly set the tone for the project’s playful-yet-painfully-honest aesthetic.

The release marks the beginning of a bold and strategic rollout for the album, supported by the NSW Government’s Create NSW Recording and Promotion Grant (2023/24). The project explores the emotional chaos of relationships in your 20s — with themes of heartbreak, growth, betrayal, reflection, and teen drama nostalgia, all woven through a sharp, pop-driven lens.
